Sochi, 15-20 November 2018 - The III ISF Executive Committee (EC) meeting and seminar was organised by ISF in cooperation with Youth of Russia - led by EC Member Mr Alan Abaev, and held in Sochi, Russian Federation.
Among the special guests were Ms Marina Vartazaryan, Deputy Mayor of Sochi, Mr Mikhail Dryomov, Director "South Sport" and representatives of the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Education.
Sochi welcomed ISF EC members and representatives of National School Sport Federations for a five-day seminar which saw discussions and assessments on current and future development of the federation, and attribution and presentation of upcoming ISF events.
Vision 2030
ISF EC members and ISF Technical Commission (TC) presidents evaluated the Vision2030 and its progress so far, and assessed the current state and future development of the new ISF board mandate of 2018 - 2022. They also presented the recommendations for a future Vision 2030 development related to its six main topics/characteristics; ambitious, innovative, accessible, educative, worldwide, transparent. The latter will be proposed to ISF EC at the next meeting.
Gymnasiade - ISF School Summer Games 2022 candidates
Four pre-candidates presented their intentions for the organization of the ISF Gymnasiade - School Summer Games 2022. The ISF members entering a race are: Azerbaijan, France, Russia and Serbia.
All four countries are strong pre-candidates which made an impactful presentation and showed high interest in hosting the global youth through a multi-sport event. Over the recent years, ISF Gymnasiade evolved into a professional School Sport event which unites the worldwide school network.
Official letter of intent for potential other candidates can be sent to ISF office by the 15 March 2019.
ISF World Schools Championships 2021
ISF Sport Committee and Technical Commission gathered to specifically assess the season 2018 and outline the direction and the goals for the upcoming ISF Sport policy while also reporting on the preparations and progress of the ISF World Schools Championships (WSCs), scheduled for 2019 and 2020.
The exceptional news was the attribution of 2019 WSC in chess which will be organised by Armenia. Armenia will also host the 2020 WSC in sambo. For the first time ever ISF Beach Games will be held, organized by Ukraine (in 2020).
For 2021, with an aim of expending School Sport and its network, ISF events have been attributed to new ISF members. From India to Puerto Rico to China and Qatar, a wide variety of countries will welcome the ISF young athletes through hosting a 2021 World Schools Championships.
Report on the first official ISF visit to Jinjiang, China
ISF delegation recently made its first official visit to the host of the Gymnasiade 2020 Jinjiang, China. In Sochi, the representatives of the Jinjiang, including the Mayor of the hosting city Mr Zhang Wenxian, presented the official report on the visit and the progress of the event.
ISF now counts 118 members
Five new countries have officially become ISF members; Afghanistan, Libya, Malawi, Philippines and Sierra Leone. ISF now officially counts 118 members from all over the World with a goal to further develop and strengthen School Sport among global sport and education network and its stakeholders.
The III Executive Committee (EC) meeting and ISF seminar in Sochi, Russian Federation, greatly contributed to strengthening ISF Vision 2030 and its development, and confirmed ISF is taking important steps forward to becoming a global leader in uniting sport with education.
