The Educational Games is an ISF event fairly different from all other World Schools Championships; of what do the Educational Games consist?
ISF Educational Games is a mixture of Culture, Sport History, Sport Participation and Inclusion, combined with the joy of School Sport. Participating students have the opportunity to visit landmark historic monuments (Acropolis of Athens, Marathon, Olympia), participate in sports within famous historic sport venues (Ancient Olympia Stadium, Panathenaic Stadium, Athens Classic Marathon), and experience inclusive sports for all.
From what was this project born?
Out of the need to implement in the best way the ISF motto “Education through Sport” combined with inclusive sports, as students with and without disabilities equally participate.
Can you tell us more about this ISF 2nd Educational Games? How is the preparation doing? How many countries do you expect? How is the program established?
There are some surprises that are not yet to be disclosed. An important asset of the 2015 Educational Games will be the presence of renowned Olympic Medalists. Another important feature is that students will experience the innovative form of Greek “Non-competitive Inclusive Games” which will, for the first time, be presented to an international audience. The preparation for an ISF Event is always really demanding but there is the strong belief that all ten (10) delegations will enjoy a great School Sport Event. Delegations come from Belgium – German Speaking Community, Bulgaria, China, Cyprus, England, France, Hungary, Slovakia, Special Olympics Greece and Greece.
What are the feedbacks that you get from the delegations?
The participants of the 1st ISF Educational Games asked for more Sport action. This is going to be implemented during the 2nd Games. A questionnaire will be used, in cooperation with the ISF Observer Mr. Charlie Raeburn, in order to fully evaluate the whole project.
Do you have any expectations of development in the future for the Educational Games?
A major future development would be rendering the ISF Educational Games a worldwide symbol for “Education through Sport”.
