Lausanne, 30 October 2019 – ISF Sports Director Mr Josip Kosutic participated at the IF Forum 2019, an annual event which is organised by SportAccord for GAISF members and is supported by the International Olympic Committee.
The 2019 edition, entitled “Athlete Centred Sport”, was held from the 28-30 October 2019, in Lausanne, Switzerland. The issues and topics discussed were: safeguarding athletes, protection of clean athletes, athlete welfare, future financial wellbeing and strengthening the voice of athletes.
The forum was declared open with the welcoming words from Mr Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee, who shared his thoughts on athletes building bridges rather than walls, and Mr Raffaele Chiulli, GAISF President, who highlighted the importance of inclusion.
The invited speakers also touched the topics related to the student’s generation and school sport. Ms Janette Kwayke, Sports Broadcaster, expressed her opinion on the power of school sport: "Children are the future. Everything started with a PE teacher and in school."
Mr Javier Deshayes, FIBA, continued and shared his thoughts on educating the young people: "It is important to educate the players, especially the youth players. We have to educate the youth athletes as soon as possible, starting in the early age.”
ISF signed the MoU with the International Jump Rope Union
During the IF Forum, ISF signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Jump Rope Union (IJRU). The MoU was agreed between Mr Mike Simpson (IJRU Treasurer), in presence of Ms Rochelle Boggs (IJRU Co-Secretary General), and Mr Josip Kosutic, ISF Sports Director.
Jump rope will be one of the 18 sport disciplines featured at the ISF Gymnasiade School Summer Games 2020.
Future cooperation
In the future, and ahead of the ISF Gymnasiade School Summer Games 2020, ISF plans to strengthen, increase and develop its cooperation with the international sport federations. During the IF Forum, ISF Sports Director Mr Josip Kosutic met, and agreed on a stronger collaboration, with Mr Leno Haldna, President of the International Orienteering Federation (in presence of Secretary General Mr Tom Hollowell), Mr Tom Dielen, Secretary General of the World Archery, Mr Guillaume Felli, General Secretary of World Dance, representatives of World Taekwondo - Mr Mohamed Shaaban (Chair of Games Committee), Mr Marco Ienna (Director of Lausanne Office), Ms Sophie Roduit (Manager of Lausanne Office), Mr Jerry Ling (Chief of Staff), Mr Emmanuel Katsiadakis, Secretary General of International Fencing Federation, Mr Michal Buchel, CEO of the International Sambo Federation, Ms Sarah Lewis, Secretary General of International Ski Federation and Mr Javier Deshayes, International Basketball Federation’s Sports Manager.
