How do you see the impact of your position in ISF, for girls?
The initial impact I see coming from my position as the ISF Wushu Technical Commission Coordinator, is that of setting a good example to young girls in regard to the possibilities that come from being involved in sport. Adding to my sporting expertise in the field of Wushu, my involvement brings a female perspective to projects that involve girls, with myself and women in similar positions potentially representing positive female role models to the youth all around the world.
What is the message you would like to address to young girls on the importance of practicing school sport?
Practicing school sport has a very high-level of importance for young girls, with the clear benefits to improving physical fitness, as well as mental health. Furthermore, school sport also provides opportunities for young girls to interact with each other, meeting and communicating with other young girls and sharing experiences created through school sport.
What would you say to the public authority leaders regarding investment in school sport?
Investment in all school sport by public authorities is very important, and specifically for girls, to better understand their characteristics and requirements, so that current and future opportunities for them continue to be provided and developed.
In your opinion, how important are international sport events for the youth population and for young girls?
The opportunities provided by school sport are clearly displayed at international sport events, broadening their horizons by experiencing different countries and cultures, while meeting young girls with different backgrounds to their own, and increasing their self-confidence.
How did you manage in your sport environment (schools, club, federations...) through the COVID-19 situation, specifically for girls and what are the specific challenges for them?
During the current global COVID-19 situation, it has been hard for girls to stay active and practice sport. However, there has been the opportunity to engage in other activities and exercises that are possible to practice in the home setting, such as tai chi, and yoga, that help to keep both body and mind active during periods of lockdown.

From P.R. China, Han Jianyun (Eva) is the ISF Wushu Technical Commission Coordinator and has spent over 15 years as a college teacher. Eva is also a qualified national level referee in wushu, and has participated in various wushu events since 2005, assisting the ruling, organisation, recording and integration each time, most notably for the Championships of China University Wushu competition, and the 2019 World Traditional Wushu Championships.
