On November 8th, ISF President - Laurent Petrynka and World Taekwondo President - Mr Chungwon Choue signed a MoU in the Lausanne World Taekwondo office in order to strenghten the growth of Taekwondo among school sport from the National to international level.
In 2017 Taekwondo has been officially included for the 1st ISF Combat Games which have been welcomed by the school sport network. The promotion of Taekwondo is plan to be extended during the Gymnasiade 2018 - School Summer Games in Marrakesh (Morocco) from 2-9 May and will gather more than 2500 young school participants from all around the world.
Both recognised by the IOC, it is clear that ISF and World Taekwondo share the values of education through sport, fair play and respect which will help them to better contribute to the promotion of sport and specifically taekwondo as a tool for education in the school framework. World Taekwondo: ''The course of our history has shown how the taekwondo philosophy extends beyond the field of play and teaches its practitioners universal values''
Mr Petrynka said: ''Like most of the martial arts and combat sports, I believe deeply in the values of respect, mind and body control and I particularly admire the philosophy of Taekwondo explained by Mr Choue. Such philosophy and sport can only contribute positively to the education challenges that the world and young people face nowdays. As a member of the IOC Olympic Education Commission, I'm glad that an international sport federation like World Taekwondo is sincerely commited to education through sport for citizens around the world.
