ISF GYMNASIADE ATTRIBUTION CEREMONY

Zagreb, Croatia: For the first time in history, on the 30^th November 2019, the International School Sport Federation (ISF) attributed the biggest school sport event; the ISF Gymnasiade, for two consecutive editions, at the same meeting. The quality of the bidding dossiers, their professional merits and the extra proposals from the candidates, led the Executive Committee (EC) to proceed to a double attribution for the largest ISF event.

“We were very impressed with the level of today’s presentations and dossiers. It is incredible how active ISF members are and how high expectations are from educational institutions to provide opportunities for students all over the world to improve their educational, cultural and healthy lifestyle activities. We are spreading values of education and peace through sport.”

said Mr. Laurent Petrynka, President of the ISF.

After one year of serious preparations, three candidates (France, Russian Federation and Serbia) presented their high-level dossier based on the ISF 2030 Vision and put forward many arguments, especially regarding legacy, education and a connection with the Olympic movement. Therefore, the ISF EC unanimously decided to attribute:

1. ISF Gymnasiade – School Summer Games 2022 to France, Normandie
2.  ISF Gymnasiade – School Summer Games 2024 to Russian Federation, Ekaterinburg
3.  ISF Winter Gymnasiade – School Winter Games 2021 to Russian Federation, Krasnoyarsk
4. ISF World School Games U15 2021 to Serbia, Belgrade

“We are very happy. The ISF permits all of us, to do something good for the students from all over the world. To do something, but also to let them have a chance to dream to become like Estelle, the best in the world. Welcome to Normandie. Welcome to France.” 
 

said Ms. Nathalie Costantini, Director of the UNSS France (Union Nationale du Sport Scolaire). 

“This is an amazing decision, for Normandie, for France, but also for students all over the world. Sport has the power to change lives of all youths. Our job, job of all top athletes is to help youths to be engaged in sport. This is historical opportunity to organise The Games before The Games. I think that ISF Gymnasiade 2022 will be the legacy of the Olympic Games Paris 2024” 

said Ms. Estelle Mossely, Ambassador of the ISF Gymnasiade 2022 in Normandie, France – Olympic winner Rio 2016 

“Russian Federation is proud to host students all over the World, to show our hospitality and to work together with ISF to improve educational system and specially to educate youths about all values of the sport. Looking forward to seeing you in Russia” 

said Mr. Alan Abaev, President of the Youth of Russia.  

“This is a great honour for Serbia, and we will do our best to promote all values of school sport and it is our pleasure to welcome students from all over the World in Belgrade in 2021” 

said Mr. Uros Savic, Secretary General of Serbian School Sport Federation. 

By attributing four big events at the same meeting, the ISF confirmed the huge development of school sport worldwide. This attribution will make school sport more important and will help students all over the World to be more active, more educated, more empowered and to become future leaders of our society.

About International School Sport Federation – ISF:
The ISF organises sport event and educational events for school students aged between 6 to 18 years old. Founded in 1972 as the umbrella organisation and governing body for national school sport organisations and currently gathers 120 national member associations over five continents. Recognised by the International Olympic Committee, the events are broadcasted by the Olympic Channel or Eurosport. With more than 30 sports in its competition programs, the ISF organises multisport and single sport events as well as educational events for school sport athletes with or without impairments. 

About ISF Gymnasiade:
The biggest multisport school sport event in the world. The ISF Gymnasiade - School Summer Games gathers more than 5000 youth athletes for 8 days who compete in over 18 sports every two years with the next edition being hosted by the Chinese city of Jinjiang, in October 2020.
