The role of sport in promoting international cooperation; Mr Laurent Petrynka speaking at the 2018 EU Sport Forum

On 22nd and 23rd March, Sofia will host the 9^th edition of the EU Sport Forum on the occasion of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Organised  each year by the European Commission, the EU Sport Forum serves as a platform for a dialogue between the European Commission and the sport stakeholders. The 2018 edition will be held under the banner of 'Sport in Europe, investing for future generations,' and will have a focus on the role of sport in international relations.

The forum will discuss topics such as:
 - Sustainable sport: What is the impact of the Olympic Games on the environment?
- What is the role of sport in fighting the climate change and the Paris agreement?
- The role of sport in promoting European values through sport.
- How can we break the glass ceiling and help promote gender equality in sport?

On this occasion, Mr Laurent Petrynka, ISF President has been invited to deliver a speech to introduce the panel discussion on the role of sport in promoting international cooperation. The session will be moderated by Mr David Eades from BBC Sports and will start at 11:30 am on Thursday, March 22nd.

The presentation will highlight how ISF and its events can contribute to promotion of common values and where is the added value for young people especially. Beside that he will emphasize how the participation of young people in these event faciliate their empowerment and the 'people to people dialog'. 

Other key note speakers will be Mr Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr Yang Shu'an, Vice President of Chinese Olympic Committee, Former Vice Minister of Sport, General Administration of Sport of China, Ms Zora Dujmović, Minister for Culture and Sports, Bosnia and Herzegovina Federation and Mr Bogdan Wenta, CULT committee, Member of the European Parliament and CULT Committee.
