Two years on from the Tartu Call for a Healthy Lifestyle

On the 19th June, 2019, the European Commission organised a seminar on the promotion of healthy lifestyles, taking the opportunity to review the progress made in the past two years since the Tartu Call was launched during the European Week of Sport during the week of the 23rd-30th September, 2017 in Estonia.

The 2019 seminar focused on how the European Commission, sport organisations, associations and civil society responded to the initial Tartu Call whilst emphasising the Commission’s desire to continue the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

Mr Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport was present during the seminar to reaffirm the Commission’s position that “Inspiring children & young people to be active from an early age remains a priority.”. He also reiterated that schools have a key role to play for making young people active.

This year’s European Week of Sport will see the ISF organise the She Runs Active Girls’Lead Conference. Having received the support of the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Sport programme, the She Runs project is an example of how important initiatives of this type are in the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
